Marion Parole and Probation
A released Marion County person may be on parole, probation, mandatory supervision, or no supervision at all. The terms are not substitutes. The West Virginia Parole Board decides whether parole is granted. WVDCR Parole Services then supervises a person released on parole. Marion County Probation handles probation imposed by a Marion court. Final discharge means the sentence or supervision named in the record has ended, though another case may still exist.
The source depends on the status. A prison release record can show parole as the release type. A sentencing order states probation and its term. A later Board or DCR record may document discharge. No official public name-based list of all West Virginia parolees and probationers was found, so verification requires the order, release record, or agency response.
| Status | How it begins | Primary Marion County verification |
|---|---|---|
| Parole | Release from incarceration before the supervisory part of the sentence ends | WVDCR prison record, Parole Board decision, and Parole Services |
| Probation | Order entered by the sentencing court | Signed Marion court order and Marion County Probation |
| Mandatory or conditional supervision | Statutory or court-ordered supervision near a calculated release point | WVDCR time sheet, release record, and supervising office |
| Final discharge | End of the named sentence or supervision term | Board, DCR, or court discharge record |
- Parole
- Release from prison while a sentence remains under supervision.
- Probation
- A court-ordered community sentence or term of oversight.
- Absconder
- A person alleged to have stopped reporting or remained unavailable to supervision.
- Discharge
- The formal end of the sentence or supervision identified in the record.
Verify Marion Post-Release Supervision
Begin with a full name, date of birth, Marion case number, and WVDCR offender identification number if known. These details help distinguish people with similar names. Do not infer supervision from a missing NCRJCF entry. A person may have transferred into prison, left under bond with a case still pending, or experienced an OIS update delay.
- Search the WVDCR prison side of OIS for a state-sentence record. Record the exact status, facility, and dates shown.
- Open the Marion court case in WVPASS for circuit matters or MCR Search for magistrate matters. Obtain the signed sentence, probation, revocation, or discharge order from the clerk.
- For parole, review the Parole Board calendar only as a lead. A hearing date is not a grant, release date, or final decision.
- Ask WVDCR Parole Services or the Board for the person-specific record when parole status cannot be confirmed online.
- For probation, contact Marion County Probation with the case number and ask which public record can confirm the current order.
- Request the actual DCR release record when the release type and supervision destination must be established.
The broader Marion County released-inmate search explains how jail, prison, VINE, and court results fit together. Use it when the person’s custody path is still unclear.
Marion Probation Office Records
Marion County Probation is the direct local route for court-ordered probation. The probation order remains the key public source because it identifies the court, case, term, and any later change the court entered. Office hours were not verified in the official material, so call before visiting. Ask for public record routing, not private case-management details.

The Marion County Day Report Center is separate. State reporting places it at 211 Adams Street in Fairmont and lists 304-333-2441. Courts, probation, and parole are among its documented referral sources. Participation does not prove a release date or a person’s legal supervision type. Confirm any referral with the court or supervising authority.
The West Virginia Judiciary Marion directory displays the local clerk and probation contacts used to route those record questions.
This official directory image helps confirm which Marion office owns a probation record, rather than sending a court-order question to the Parole Board.
Marion Supervision Violations
Conditions are duties imposed by the governing order or release authority. A violation is an alleged failure to follow those duties. It can lead to review, a warrant, or revocation, but it does not by itself tell a reader whether a person is in custody. Revocation means an authority has withdrawn the community status after a formal process and may return the person to confinement.
West Virginia publishes a narrow DCR escapee and absconder search. A match signals alleged noncompliance with custody or supervision. It does not mean the sentence ended. No comprehensive Marion County absconder or warrant list was located, and absence from the state tool does not prove compliance or discharge.
Confirm a Marion warrant through the issuing court or responsible agency. Search OIS jail and prison records as well, since a person may have been taken into custody after the warrant issued. VINE can supply a custody-change alert for NCRJCF or a WVDCR prison, but it is not a general supervision roster.
Note: An absconder search result concerns alleged status, while a discharge record documents the formal end of named supervision.
Marion Parole Hearing Records
The Parole Board schedules consideration in the month of parole eligibility. Its hearing material calls that point PED. Parole eligibility is the date a person can be considered, not a promise of release. West Virginia Code §62-12-13a states that eligibility creates no right to parole. The Board also needs required court, sentence, psychological, and criminal-information records plus an approved home plan before release.
The Board’s monthly calendar is replaced at the same URL. Save the access date. A listing proves scheduled review only. Supported outcomes include grant, denial, deferral while an investigation or home plan is resolved, and a contingent grant after assigned tasks. No official public decisions archive was found, so request the written decision from the Board or DCR.
Under West Virginia Code §62-12-13, the baseline point is the minimum term of an indeterminate sentence or one-fourth of a definite term, with detailed exceptions. Offense date, disciplinary status, programming, statutory limits, safety findings, and the approved plan can change the path. The official calendar should never be read as an actual Marion County release list.
Property After Marion Release
A supervision check may begin after a person has already left NCRJCF. WVDCR’s statewide jail admission form says personal property left after release will be disposed of 30 days after the release date. It does not publish pickup-counter hours or an identification procedure. A released person should contact NCRJCF promptly and ask what record and identification are required.
The property rule also helps separate community release from prison transfer. WVDCR records policy addresses different property consequences when a jail inmate receives a prison sentence. A move from NCRJCF into a state prison is a new custody episode, not post-release supervision. Search the prison side of OIS before treating the end of a jail listing as parole.
Note: Call NCRJCF before travel because the published admission form does not state property-counter hours or a pickup method.
Marion Supervision Discharge Records
Parole release and final discharge occur at different points. Under West Virginia Code §62-12-18, the parole period is the maximum sentence less lawful deductions. After at least one year, DCR may ask for early discharge, and the Board chair may grant it when the statute’s standards are met. A person paroled from a life sentence cannot be discharged from supervision in less than five years.
Use the written discharge record as the endpoint. A past release date proves departure from confinement, not the end of all oversight. Likewise, a completed probation term should be tied to the court record or a formal response from Marion Probation. If another case remains, discharge in one matter says nothing about that second case.
For formal victim notice of a release or parole hearing, West Virginia requires separate written requests to DCR and the Parole Board under §62-12-23d. VINE registration supports custody alerts, but it does not replace those written statutory requests or the final agency record.
